Storybird: Reading Literature 2nd grade

I loved using this tool Storybird. I thought it was a great way to really create something unique and still get a message across to your students. I think this tool would be best used by the students. Using this tool, you have all these resources to go in and make any type of story that you would want to. I feel like the students would really be able to let their creativity fly with this, and they could make up different stories to teach different messages to each other. I think it would be a great creative lesson, in which the students have to find a way to express an idea or a story. As a teacher I would also use this to teach different fables and other stories, with wonderful illustrations.

Padlet: 3rd Grade Health Educations

     
For my Padlet project I decided to focus on Health Educations. To best help the lesson really sink in, Padlet is a wonderful tool to use as an after class/lesson discussion tool. This helps the students be able to add their own thoughts and ideas into the discussion, and be able to have a healthy conversation with one another. I really loved using this tool, and as a teacher I think I could use it very well to bring in a discussion to see even how my students feel about a subject before I teach it. Students could use it to start their own discussions and help get their ideas out there in a healthy way. I highly recommend this tool.

Padlet

Google Forms English Language Arts 4th Grade

Google Forms was a wonderful tool to use. I decided to use it as if we had just had a reading assignment in the book The Giver and the students had to take a reading assessment. I absolutely loved all the different ways to ask a question, and the way it is presented afterwards to see all the answers together. I think that the students will also like the opportunity it gives to let them take their time on the quiz, and to be able to take it home and do it. It is something also that the kids can make, and participate in. Taking class surveys, seeing what the class thinks about different things. Class elections could also be done on this sort of thing. It's a wonderful tool.

Answer Garden 6th Grade Fine Arts

I really enjoyed using Answer Garden, and I think it is a wonderful tool for classes. This tool lets you go in and answer a question that somebody else has posted, and so you can write whatever you want in a 20 character limit. I think as a student this is great to see what others see, and especially to really start the gears turning in your head. As a teacher I would use this to see the status in my class, how well they understand a concept, or to see how they feel about different topics. Students could use this to take polls and really start learning about statistics. I thought it would be great to help children understand about fine arts, and think more about why artists do what they do. The meaning that really goes behind all different forms of art. That is why I based mine on the following standards.

UEN Standard for 6th grade fine arts: Strand: RESPOND (6.V.R.): Students will understand, evaluate, and articulate how works of art convey meaning for the observer as well as the creator. 

ED Tech Standard 7: Use telecommunications and on-line resources (e.g., email, online discussions, web environments) to participate in collaborative problem-solving activities to develop solutions or products for audiences inside and outside the classroom. 

ISTE Standard: DIGITAL CITIZEN I understand the rights, responsibility and opportunities of living learning and working in an interconnected digital world. 


Answer Garden

ED Puzzle: 6th Grade Science

I rather enjoyed using ED Puzzle, and I would suggest it to anybody. I think it would work really well in the classroom, and help students get involved and a new approach to in class work and homework. I think this is a fantastic way to be able to evaluate a child's ability to retain knowledge, and be able to relay the information. As well as a way to make sure that they did the assignment, and really understand the material. The students would be able to use this tool as a homework assignment, or types of quizzes that they can watch at home and make sure that they understand the concept. I think it will keep the children involved and help keep their attention because it is so interactive.

Prezi- 5th Grade Science

Prezi was a relatively easy tool to use, and it really allows for creativity. The biggest pros of the tool were how user friendly it was, and the ability to really make any project your own. They have different themes and templates, but it lets you build upon those and really create something you love. I especially love the different levels that you can use, to zoom in on certain points, or so that you can literally "read between the lines". I think that the students would love using this tool, because you can make it unpredictable and it's a fun way to present information. They could use it to present a science experiment, or any other class project. I would use it as a student to really add a fun way to present to a class! 

UEN Science- 5th grade Standard 2 that is to help "students understand that volcanoes, earthquakes, uplift, weathering, and erosion reshape Earth's surface." 

Ed-Tech standard 5 to use technology for individual and collaborative writing, communication, and different activities to help create products for people inside and outside the classroom. 

ISTE Knowledge Constructor which says that students "critically select, evaluate and synthesize digital resources into a collection that reflects my learning and builds my knowledge."

Tiki-Toki: 5th Grade Social Studies

    

This tool was actually rather hard to work with, I'm not sure if it was the site or just my internet connection but I could hardly do anything on in. Whenever I tried to upload a picture it would just freeze for about five minutes until I either exited out of the page, or refreshed it. The pros of this tool is that it is a fun way to teach on a timeline scale. Students would be able to utilize it to tell stories or a sort of project on a timeline. It will be really great for them to be able to see how everything works in time. It can be used for a lot more than just History, but to share how their weekend went, or to show the timeline of a science experiment. So far this has been my least favorite tool, but it does show the time  difference which is really nice. 

Utah Core Standard 2 for Social Studies, that says that the "students will understand chronology and significance of key events leading to self-government." 

Ed-Tech Standard 8 which states that they "use technology resources for problem-solving, self-directed learning, and extended learning activities." As they can gather information from a tiki-toki and put it together in their head.

E-Maze: 6th Grade Health Education

E-Maze is a wonderful tool that is very useful for presentations and infographs. It has certain formats to choose from, and from which you can edit into anything you want. For my E-Maze project I decided to focus on Mental Health. I really enjoyed this tool because it presents information, in a fun way. As a student I will use this tool more often when it comes to class presentation, as it displays it in a creative way and is very easy to work with. Unlike google slides it isn't as easily shared, but unlike google slides it gives more animation on demand, without having to go in and change all the settings. It is a very easy tool, easy to pick up on, and I think the students will love using it. They could use it to present information to the class, family, or any other time that they need their thoughts organized. Also, as a teacher I feel that this tool will really bring the class to life and help them understand more of the subject matter, as the presentation is fun! 

UEN Health Education standard 1: Help the students learn ways to improve mental health and manage stress. I think this is a needed subject as it is very prevalent in our day and age. For the children to grow into healthy adults, they need to know how to manage stress. 

Ed Tech Standard 5: use technology tools for individual and collaborative writing, communication, and presenting knowledge for audiences inside and outside the classroom.

ISTE Computational Thinker: They identify authentic problems, and work with data to automate solutions. That they can work with this tool to collect data and present it. 

Google Drawings: 2nd Grade Mathematics

For my Creative tool of choice I decided to use Google Drawings. I decided to use it to help me teach Mathematics to second graders. This tool is very helpful in taking pictures, and organizing them the way you want. Also to make different types of graphs and  to display information. Something that I thought I could do was draw or paint, but they have set shapes and templates that you can use, also put in pictures. Students can learn how to utilize this tool in organizing graphs and presenting information. They can share it with other students to do group projects, or use it to make graphs and other things. I used it in a way that could either print off the worksheet in class, or I would be able to share the drawing with my students for them to do as homework. It is a wonderful collaborative tool as well, but I chose to use it as a creative tool to encourage students to learn many ways how to display information. 

UEN 2nd grade Mathematics 2.0A standard, which is Operations and Algebraic Thinking. That they should learn how to add and subtract within 20 rather fluently, and see equal groups to start a foundation for multiplying. 

Ed Tech Standard 6 which is to learn how to access information and to learn independently. 

ISTE Digital Citizen, while they are going online to access this worksheet they know the responsibilities of being honest, and being in the digital world.

YouTube: 4th grade FRACTIONS

For my YouTube project I decided to focus on 4th grade Math. I liked YouTube because it was very user friendly, very easy to understand and it is something universal. Since there is so much information on YouTube, it is hard to know which videos to trust and which ones are just fake. Also the level of professionalism is hard to determine. I think that this tool will help me as a student right now to explain concepts better. If there is something I cannot explain, there are lots of tutorials on YouTube to help you understand it better. As well as a good way to turn in homework assignments, if there is a video project due it is good to be familiar with YouTube so that you can upload it there and watch it. As a teacher you would be able to show videos to the class, for free! I think that is the greatest part: that it's free! These videos to explain Math, or any subject for that matter, will be a great asset to the students that I someday teach. If they don't understand the way I explain it, or if they are visual learners, they can go onto YouTube and really see and understand the problem.
